Changing the blog name

I have been wanting to change my blog name like forever now! When I first chose the URL it seemed cool to my baby mind. As much as I love being the Smutty Dirty Bitch, it gives out the wrong impression about my blog ;(

Specially when I google the name, go ahead google it you'll understand!

I love reading smut, I do. But the amount of smut I read is not enough to make me the worthy title holder of Smutty Dirty Bitch. And after I showed my blog to a friend he went hysterical, which only makes it easier for me to change the blog name.

I did some searching to see how do I change the URL. There were quite a few tutorials. Most of them said that, once I change my blog URL no one can visit  my blog from the previous link. So I thought redirecting? But redirection to the new URL css seemed soooo much complicated! I am a nerd who is still learning about HTML and css, so considering my options I decided to keep the URL (it's sort of catchy you know) and change the blog title.

Now I officially declare myself as The Nerd In Heels.

If anyone has any easy tutorial guide for me to figure out redirecting from old URL to a changed new URL, please please PLEASE let me know! I would like to change the URL as well *sigh*

GFC Bye Bye?

There has been a lot of fuss that Google Friend Connect will be disabled so everyone is going nuts. You know what? SO AM I! I just cannot understand why take down this service. You can find the post by following this link.

So after much researching I have found quite a few social networks to stay connected to blogs and my readers. But the thing is I do NOT want another social network in my life. Aren't there more than enough already? As a blog reader I mainly check blog post in my Google reader, I visit blogs to leave comments and check out their sites but mostly I stay on Google reader. And connecting with a blog through Google Friend Connect automatically puts that blog in my reader list, so that's pretty easy.

Seeing GFC being taken down my only concern was if Google Reader will be disabled as well. Thank god it isn't. So I did some more researching to figure out what I could do stay connected to blogs via Google reader if I don't have Google Friend Connect and offer my readers the same thing in return.

So I figured the easiest this to do is to go to your Google Reader page and you can find the subscribe button that looks like this

Now if you want to follow up any blog and their posts all you have to do is copy that link
click the picture to see get the bigger version
and paste it on the subscribe box and press add.

 So that's pretty easy!

There are other ways to keep connected to blogs and readers as well.
g+ (Google pluis) Is the reccomended site from google.

Feedbuner is another good form where you can deside in which site do you want to read blog posts.
I am sure there are many other networks as well. GFC will be available till March 1, 2012, so bloggers can find an alternate way to keep connected to readers and I really really hope Google keeps GFC.

After this post I don't think I want to say the word 'GOOGLE' ever again. YAK.

Me and my box #2

Drags in box for my weekly updates
Hello, last week was a good week. It started with Eid, so lots of celebration in my part of the world along with ALLOT of bbq'ing. My sisters are big on making stick kabab's. My younger sister made this

It was very yum! And 10 seconds later

How those four remained 10 seconds later is still a mystery o_O

So in other news I read and reviewed TWO books in a week! I know I am surprised myself ;)

I read Heart Of Steel by Meljean Brook. I was not disappointed. And I think I shall be buying the audiobooks as well. WOOT! Archimedes Fox and Lady Corsair was absolutely awesome to read about. And I still love the Iron seas series so I will be following this series in the future.

I have also finished The Body at the Tower by Y.S. Lee last week. This book is the second book of The Agency series. And I am happy to say I have found another series to love and adore. I am so glad that the third book The Traitor and the Tunnel is already out in UK. So no problem purchasing it from there.

Hi I am Prangon

Blogging with a nick name seemed like a good idea when I first started blogging. After I got a hang of things with blog and stuff I just feel silly signing my nick name when I post something, so after much thought I decided to go with the name I was given.

Mind you, my real name is tough to pronounce maybe only five-six people knows how to pronounce it. And sadly I am not one of them, according to my mother *le sigh* It's Prangon. You sort of pronounce it like Pra - ang - gon. NO it sounds nothing like Dragon. I might be fierce like a one minus the fire breathing thing (but how cool would it be if I could breath fire!) My mother is big on earth power and Rabindranath Tagore's poetry so I was named Prangon, which means the power of earth.

So just wanted to let everyone know. Smittenskitten, it was fun while it lasted but I think I better stick to my own name.

Me and my box #1

Drags in box to start my ranting about my week.

This month started pretty gloomy with midterms, but didn't last long as the mid term was done by the second. Then I spent some time reading, and I finally finished one of the books that I started to read for Bout Of Books read-a-thon A Spy In The House by Y.S. Lee. I might have exaggerated how much I loved the book on my review so I thought I should do that again. If you haven't read this book, definitely check it out.

When I was seeing everyone reading Heart Of Steel by Meljean Brook in my goodreads/ Google reader/ twitter updates, I just couldn't handle it. I BOUGHT THE DAMN BOOK! I am so not book shopping for another month I swear (this time I will keep it..... I think). I am not to blame for this purchase, it's just too tempting and I have been waiting for a looooong time for this book to come out after The Iron Duke.

In other news I have a new rating system
A new boyfriend  XD
The complete series of Harry Potter!
And I also started watching the new series Once Upon A Time.

Off Topic Ranting

You might have noticed I was MIA for a few months. My reason to suddenly disappear was due to a university thing. I had to do a semester in complete isolation where internet is nowhere to be found and if sometimes I was lucky to get some reception it was too slow to keep my blog my updated. Books were suppose to be my only survival materiel, or so I thought. Untill my friends introduced me to something called FRINGE which led to my latest addiction of finding new/old TV series(s) and get hooked.

Yes, when I was isolated for about four months, all I did was watch one TV show after the other.

First
Fringe is sort of X-Files themed where Agent Olivia Dunham investigates strange events with the help of Walter Bishop and his son Peter. There are three seasons out and the fourth season is being aired now. I am Definitely hooked.

Second.
Community is about a study group in Greendale community college where they come up with the serious situations and funny solutions. I am watching the third season now.

Third

How I Met Your Mother, I have given up on this show a looooong time ago. They are never going to reveal how he met their mother. So why I still watch this you ask?

Fourth

I know it's lame. But I love it! The songs are all awesome and of course there is Klaine!

Fifth

The Vampire Diaries. I first started because it's based on L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries, as they are one of my favorite book I just had to watch, and then BAM Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder)

Yes you are.
 Sixth

Le sigh. SPN boys so pretty. Do I really need a reason to watch this?
Let's just enjoy some AWESOME gif of the boys ;)

Seventh

Did I mention I have been also getting addicted to X-Files? The first time it aired the theme song was enough to scare me and now it's so damn addictive!

Eighth

Game Of Thrones. That is one of the best shows, EVER.

Ninth
Torchwood, I am just getting started due to a specific NSFW (Not Safe For Work) post.

So what shows are you addictive to?
