My Thoughts 

Well done! This was an amazing read. Beth Revis did this series justice by putting together an well written world as she ended it.

Shades of earth picks up from where they left off. With Elder and Amy taking the shipborns along with the earthborns to the new world. The twist and turn of this new world had everyone worried for their life. Plot wise A+ work. Specially because this book tied all the lose ends. 

There might be a few triggers that might not suit everyone. Other than that Shades of Earth is definitely a step up from the previous two book. If you are a sci-fi fan Across The Universe is definitely one that needs to be checked out.

In my head

I had this since the end of February. Sadly my lack of reading time kept me away from the awesomeness that is Grave Mercy. Grave Mercy is under YA genre but for me I felt the book was a combination between adult and young-adult genre.

The book is set around the time of late 1400's when Anne of Brittany was straggling to get her duchy. My European history is not that good but I do remember a little bit about Anne of Brittany. The author put in a lot of historical information of that period. Sticking with the story line of Anne's marriage so some of the names of the Dukes who intended to have her hand for marriage were familiar.

The story in told in Ismae's point of view, with a very little about her past and the three years she spent in the convent learning the secrets of assassination. She sets of with Lord Duval, Anne's stepbrother to find the traitor in her court. Ismae had me hooked from the very beginning, and the most important part about her that made me I fall in love with was that she can take care of herself! Yes, no kidnapping or holding her for ransom if you want to have your throat slit or be poisoned by this lithe assassin.

Ismae and Duval's banter and the slow built up romance was just cherry on top with my chocolate sundae. 

I can sit here and tell you how awesome this book is but it's better if you just go ahead and read the book. And be awesomified (is that a word!)

My Thoughts:

After reading all three books of The Agency series, I have to say this has been my favorite. 

Mary is yet again set to solve a mystery set in Buckingham Palace, and who else is there to cross her path? Why it was James Easton. The duo manages to keep out of the others toe for a time being but that was only momentary of course.

While trying to discover the main culprit to the case of missing pieces from the palace Mary stumbles on to something much more darker. A murder, and she is hell bound to find out the truth. Her venture to truth leads her to a secret of her own past and for the first time since I have been reading this books, I see Mary thinking with her heart rather than her head. As a trained spy Mary evaluates what she says, do sometimes not that much. But in the end, even when it was James Easton she has always been guarded of herself. So I think I liked this Mary as well as I did her in the previous books. James and Mary's relationship which they finally acknowledge as 'friendship' might finally see the light of day.

At the end, I say this will be one of my favorite series from now on. If you love young adult mysteries this is a book you need to read.

My Thought

First, LOVE, EPIC LOVE FOR THIS BOOK FROM NOW ON!

I guess that explains just how much I enjoyed it. I have had A Spy In The House for a while now, but I never got around reading it till now. I mainly started this for Bout Of Books read-a-thon which failed due to my midterms. So after finishing my mids on Wednesday when I picked up the book again it was impossible to let go. I don't know if it was the era writer projected in her story or the characters she created, but I felt so connected! 

In 1850's a woman being a detective or let alone have a detective agency full of women was completely absurd but Mary Quinn is one of the detectives of these agency and a very kick-ass one at that. Mary finds some help when she starts her investigation, sometimes in a wardrobe and sometimes in a warehouse. James Easton is an engineer who is determine to save his brother, from a marriage he believes will bring nothing but misery to them. While investigating further on the family of his brother's future in-laws he meets Mary Quinn. Together they agree to find out what is actually going on. 

James grows some feelings for Mary on their mission, but there is always the question of social difference between them. At the end of the story many secrets are revealed, some are very unexpected, some are rather sweet.

Overall a good book. Recommended to readers who loves reading young-adult.

My Thoughts 

In four words, I absolutely loved it. 

A Hidden Fire, is a paranormal mystery where you learn yet some new things about the para world with Dr Vecchio and Miss De Novo. Italian scholar Giovanni Vecchio meets the alluring librarian Beatrice de Novo in a trip to the local library. A friendship is formed between them and eventually a mystery of finding some age old documents that leads them in a journey where Beatrice learns some of the hidden truths about the world. Giovanni and Beatrice becomes something more than just acquaintance along the way and at some point of their journey Giovanni finds himself attracted to Beatrice. Her humorous and quick retort stirred feelings inside him that he had put away long ago. 

Giovanni's Italian accent and his dark brooding looks finished with the dash of the supernatural powers, he was definitely an eye catcher. Beatrice is a student working only part time as a librarian where she meets Gio, her Spanish heritage is not so strong in her appearance. 

Both Giovanni and Beatrice are very much in denial of their feelings for each other in front of their friends and to themselves. Giovanni's reluctance to admit about his feelings is understandable. Beatrice did seem to have strong feelings about the Italian but she too was guarded of her emotions. I loved how the relationship between Beatrice and Giovanni grew, their friendship gradually grew into something more.     

Elizabeth Hunter very successfully included some of the most well known Italian renaissance figures in her story, blending them in with ease. I don't want to giveaway anything from the story too much, as there are many twists in the book that took me by surprise, I'll wait for the readers to find that out for themselves.   

A Hidden Fire is the first book of Element series, and at the end of the first book you can read the first chapter of the second installment to Element series, This Same Earth. After reading that, I am in a heap of emotions...

It's been awhile that I read a book with a vampire being its main character. And I am so glad that I did! A  Hidden Fire is a beautiful creation of Elizabeth Hunter, her detailed lively description about each character and situation is one of the things that captured my attention. Recommended to all paranormal fantasy readers. This is a must read!

The book cover might not give the paranormal vibe as it should but I love this cover anyway. An old library stuffed with books that has a rich liquorish furnish all over, in reality this can make any book loving girl like me go weak on the knees.

My Thoughts

I first saw this cover in my friend's goodreads page. She had been bragging on and on about Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Lusts, and how erotic it was. First I thought Pride and Prejudice and erotic this two thing in one sentence! Sumi, you have finally lost it. But now that I have read it I must agree this was indeed one the erotic reads ever and absolutely beautiful adaptation on Austin's world. 

Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice is second my second favorite in Austin's book. But Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Lusts tops them all and I will read it again and again. I think Ms Szereto has made Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Lusts into one of my guilty pleasure.

Knowing most of the characters from the original books and all the P&P movies, I had a pretty good idea about the story line and the characters. I think Ms Szereto did a brilliant job staying true to the original storyline in spite of all the sexy action which I through fully enjoyed while reading.

When I was reading the book Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen keep popping up in my head every time Mr Darcy had his beseechers off!

Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Lusts is an wonderful creation by Mitzi Szereto. Recommended to readers who loves erotic novels. Not for the faint hearted.

My Thoughts

Five Stars hands down.

I am not so keen on the idea of fairy and all. But in case of H.P. Mallory's fairies I make an exception and I am glad that I did. Dulcie O'Niel is definitely one badass fairy. I am surprised at just how much I loved reading this book.

In the second series of Dulcie O'Niel, Dulcie has to find the person who is putting everyone she cares about to sleep. She is next and the key to not to let her mind wonder off is to not sleep. 

Dulcie does some stuff she wouldn't in her right mind will do. Brings out more reckless side of her, and lets face it when there are lives are at stake, you will do almost anything to save them. Dulcie also realizes her feeling towards are Knight is extremely strong which ended the book in a bright mood. 

Overall a really good book. If you are a fan of urban fantasy and Henry Cavill, this is a MUST read.

My Thoughts

The Hunger Games then Catching Fire. Lastly Mockingjay. This book is completely different then the first two.
I had a hard time getting into it, but eventually I did.
As I said before this isn't a romantic series so I wasn't invested on WHO will Katniss end up with. My main goal was to find out what happens now that Katniss has lost her home, Peeta and now she is a rebel.
War, always have consequences. This side or that. No one wins without  suffering the wrath first hand. I think that was the main thing Suzanne Collins tried to tell tell us through this book.
It's a depressing ending, but still worth the read, deserves the five stars that I giving and I am waiting for my paperbacks so can give those to kiddos. *sniffles*

My Thoughts

This book took me a while to get a hold of. But when I did I couldn't put it down.

This time Katniss and Peeta the victor's of The Hunger Game is now living in Victor Village trying to convince the capitol again that they are indeed lovers.

But that was NOT enough for the precident of Panem. He twists the hunger game rules when it's time for the Quarter Quell dragging both Katniss and Peeta in the arena.

70% of the book is off the arena where Katniss is getting a whiff of a rebel that might be arise, in the mean time trying to come up with a strategy to save Peeta in the arena. That's exactly what Peeta wants as well.

In this book we get to see a lot of development in the districts and get introduced to some new characters.

By now I should choose a team, but I can't. Peeta is the leading boy, I see that. But I have a soft spot for Gale and now even Finnick. But him being a love interest for Katniss, is not likely. So II guess I am just suffering from both team delusion moment. o_O

Let's talk about Katniss some more. Three was one moment, one line that Katniss said would be forever my favorite line from this book.

"But at the moment, I excuse myself from thinking bout even those I love most. I think only of me."

Before I finish, I am curious about one person in particular, Cinna. He is a capitol citizen, he asked to be district twelve's fashion designer and he makes a rebellious statement through  the costumes he makes for Katniss. Now I want to know why what spur this on for him.

Now I finish it saying this book is a must if you a hunger games fan, AND keep the third one close because you'll start it as soon as you finish. I am on third chapter now. =D

My Thoughts

To say this book is amazing is an understatement; I don’t have the right words how I feel about this book.

When I first started reading The Hunger Games I was told, let the obsession begin. I didn’t think it will actually happen.

It’s set in the ruins of North America which is known as Panem, a capitol which is surrounded by 12 districts. Every year 24 boys and girls are chosen from these districts to play for their lives on television. Katniss Everdeen from district 12 voluntarily enters The Hunger Games to save her sister. She is sending in to the game with Peeta Mellark.

Both prepared for the game in the capitol, they have to kill each other to survive. Only one will come out of there alive.

Peeta developed a crush on Katniss during their school years, which Katniss is unaware of.  Katniss feels like she owes Peeta because he helped her when she was a little girl. This is NOT a love story. It’s dark angst. Fighting to stay alive. And killing in cold blood is not a easy job.

I cried while reading this book. *actual tears* which rarely happens. Sure I get mushy over ohhh why? But don’t burst into tears in RL. While reading this I did.

It was a slow for me in first twenty pages, but I was told it gets better so I kept reading. I am so glad I listened.

If you haven’t read this book yet, you MUST! Buy a copy get it from your library, you will not regret it.

The Hunger Games is the first book in Hunger Games series. I will be starting the second one soon.

My Review

I am writing this review for the third time and still feel like I am not doing it Justice. I have never been sucked into a book like this. It’s made of all kind of freaking awesomeness.

At first I was a bit lost I admit. I didn’t get why we were talking blacksmith Horde world. Then I find out The Iron Duke is the second book to The Iron Seas series. I had to go back to the first one “Here There Be Monster” to understand this world a bit better. While it didn’t explain the whole thing but it definitely helped a lot. And OMFG! not enough Mad Machen and Ivy. More on that later let’s talk about Mina and Rhys.

The Iron Duke starts with detective Inspector Wilhelmina Wentworth, investigating a murder which took place at Rhys Trahaearn, a former pirate captain, and recently titled The Duke of Anglesey. Now when I started this I was prepared for no sex at all. The time period mentioned, just made me think yeah maybe a bit of romance a peck on the lips and boy was I wrong!

Mina is a strong female character which makes this book so great. There were moments where I was sure she would just give in and throw her arms around Rhys and let him carry her off to the sunset. But no. she stood strong till the very end. A+ for Mina.

She travels dangerous paths to rescue her brother with the help of the Iron Duke. Mina is not ready to give in to romance that’s until Rhys steps in. Rhys plays dirty, he is an opportunities and everything vulgar.

It’s easy to fall in love with the leading man. So was Rhys. I like them shameless vulgar and pirate URGH!

But there was moments where I thought oh my god he did not just offer her that!! I am ready to stop liking him then he goes into parliament so Mina’s doesn’t have to accept his offer, she comes with him willingly *it’s a heavy spoiler so I am staying away from that*

How can I not love him, when he sees Mina he has an exceeded amount of lust for her, his behavior towards her is a mixture of pirate and sorta gentleman.

Their journey to rescue Mina’s brother leads into something more. Being born in the Horde world Mina restrain herself from falling for Rhys and Rhys is just not ready to let her go. We find out just what he is willing to do have her.

NOW the big ending, I am a big angstville person, I practically live there. Lols. Two to three pages left and I am in tears. And incredibly enough when I thought no HEA was possible

Meljean Brooks delivers just that. A perfect ending with a me sniffling.

I really loved this book. Meljean Brooks is an wonderful storyteller.

The Iron Duke has become one of my favorite books. I cannot wait for the next Iron Seas series.
