Tempting Tuesday: Some Girls Bite Read-Along Chapter 1-4

Hosted by Tina at Tina's Book Reviews, Rummanah at Books in the Spotlight, Missie at The Unread Reader and Jenny at Supernatural Snark.
I started reading Some Girls Bite last night. The start is quite interesting. Now will be discussing chapters 1-4 of this book which is being held over at Supernatural Snark

Let’s say tomorrow a “vampire manifesto” as Merit calls it runs in newspapers across the country announcing their existence. How do you think you would react? If you were hesitant to believe initially, what would it take to convince you they were real?
Get holy water, sharp stake, a crossbow and every other pointy objects to keep a vampire off of my neck. I WOULD FREAK OUT! If it actually happened, of course!

To convince myself?!? I can tell you this, I shall not walk into a vampire bar and ask to be bitten. Ummm I guess I would need hardcore proof. Showing off the fangs would probably scream fake. I don't know, I don't think I would believe in it unless I have had a first hand experience. I guess.

Reading about the vampire romance all my life, you would think I would be a bit compassionate about Vampires .... *sigh* I guess the outlook might change but it's very unlikely. Yup. I would go Buffy if "vampire manifesto" thing happens.
Since being turned into a vampire means complete removal from your former life and a new job serving your House in some capacity, what do you think you would miss most about the life you live now?
I can tell you this, wouldn't miss the sun. I am more of a night creature as it is and I try to go out when the heat is less at least so I would say I would be okay without a sun. I would miss my family like crazy though. No matter how annoying they can be. My crazy bunch of friends, although some might offer to tag along and become vampires. I will do everything in my power to stop that. Knowing my weird friends they will make terrible vampires. As in I would be overshadowed by their awesomeness of being vamps o_o
What are your first impressions of Merit and how she’s handling all the changes in her life?
I haven't finished the book yet to give a final verdict about Merit. But I would say all things consider, so far she is handling it pretty good. Being a vampire and adjusting to a brand new life, she is whining less than me. Kudos to Merit for that!
When you first read the description of Ethan, what actor/model/person you know pops into your head as the perfect embodiment of him? Feel free to include pictures ;-)
I started this after picturing Gabriel Aubry playing Ethan. Soooooo

shifty eyes
Do you think Merit’s anger at Ethan himself, not the situation, is justified?
Scratches head. I can understand Merit's anger towards Ethan. She got turned against her will and all so she has to be angry at something/someone to take out her aggression on being turned against her will. So the anger at Ethan is unavoidable.  Is it justified? I guess not.

  1. What??? I am of the 'Bite Me, Please' club, so I would be totes down with the vamps. You and Jenny have similar tastes in Ethans, which is to say that you have EXCELLENT taste!

  2. I guess I'm one of the few ones who are a bit harsher on Ethan. And yeah, I can totally see myself going Buffy on the vamps. Although it would be cool to hang out with Spike. :D

  3. LOL- I want to be Buffy...:D

Although I would need some major weight and strength training as well. Vampires are hot...BUT real ones...not sure about....

    Great answers!

  4. Yeah Gabriel Aubry!!! *pets screen* He's so delicious:) I agree with you on Merit's anger toward Ethan, she just needs an outlet for her feelings, and he's the most logical choice.

    Thanks so much for participating!

  5. I would go Buffy too, unless some kind of proof existed that they were "friendly" vamps. lol.

  6. Ahh, I love that you would go all "Buffy" on everyone! We'd all probably feel very freaked out. Regardless of our love for Vampire Romances. I kinda like these boys fictional anyway ;)

I'd also agree that at this point Merit is whining way less than I would be. She's also in less shock. I think I'd be un-functional due to shock at this point. Though I'm dying to have her drink some blood. Ready to see how that goes.

And two thumbs up for Gabriel Aubry. Nice choice and awesome orchid pics. Gotta love a hot man in a girly bedroom. Like my fantasy is already half complete! ;)

  7. I LOVE your answers. I don't know if I'm brave enough to go Buffy on a vampire, but I would not be happy if they were real. I like them, no love them in my books, but not in real life.

Thank you for saving me the time of looking up more pictures of Gabriel Aubry. I'll just be saving those to my computer! And in the black suit...Ethan sure wore a lot of black. Guess that's a vampire's favorite color. But he looks great doesn't he??

    Terrific answers!!

  8. I'm having a hard time accepting that you'd want to stake my immortal lovers rather than be bitten by them, my friend. *sobs in corner*

Oh, well, I guess that just gives me more fangs to fondle. LOL

    And HOLY O.O

Is that really Aubry, because he totally looks like Ethan in those pictures. *fans self* I think this is another batch of pictures I'm gonna have to steam from you. :P

  9. I certainly wouldn't want to be Buffy myself. LOL Great POV though. It's fun seeing everyone's opinion. DeAnna Schultz

  11. Funny answers. I love that you go all Buffy! I am glad to hear that almost everyone agress they wouldn't want to jump on the vampire bandwagon. Ohh nice sexy pictures good choice but he is still hotter in my head!

  12. Umm, yummy. I totally approve of yours and Jenny's pick for Ethan. Scratch my pick and everyone else's... I should have googled more pics of him before I decided. *fans self*

Ahem, back to the book... ;)

Yah I agree with you about her anger at Ethan. It's not necessarily right, but I think she does have a right to express her emotions. People don't seem to realize what a big deal having her choices taken away is to Merit. I understand that Ethan saved her life, but he also committed her to life as a vampire, where she either had to submit or be shunned by the majority of her own kind. Seems like a pretty big deal to me.
