Communing with the dead is an everyday occurrence for PI Morgan Hawkes. A half-Wiccan witch who can commune with spirits of those caught between worlds, Morgan uses her talents to exorcise the trapped ghost or demon as part of the Paranormal Investigation Squad – until a string of murders with a voodoo slant prompts the Special Forces Agency to ask for her assistance. Someone’s killing pureblood witches- and the SFA’s convinced Morgan’s heritage (her father was a voodoo priest) could be instrumental in solving the mystery. Teamed with dashing SF agent Cole St. John – an Inheritor Vampire that sets her blood racing – the two of them fight their attraction for each other as they race to stop a madman from unleashing a demonic force upon the world.

My Thoughts

No rest for Wicca by Toni LoTempio is a mystery filled urban fantasy that captured my attention because of the rich information on Wiccans and voodoo magic. The title of the novel does justice to the story, indeed there was no rest for the Wicca there.

Morgan Hawk a paranormal investigator exercising ghost of the supernatural world certainly became my favorite character by her constant sarcasm. Who doesn’t love the leading lady with a sense of humor that’s dipped in sarcasm? I know I do. Morgan is scarred from what happened in her past and she had issues letting them go and live her life to the fullest no matter what anyone said. In this situation taking on a homicide case seem like a bad idea but when she is pushed in to the bloody situation she takes control and sees it through. I loved the fact that Morgan didn’t depend on the leading man every time she got in trouble. She was strong and independent, another trait that makes her my favorite character from the book.

Cole St. John, now how to describe dead warm and sexy? Hmmm, I would say being a vampire already made him sexy and his dark brooding looks definitely didn’t hurt. Unfortunately in spite of being a vampire, Cole wasn’t a blood thirsty beast. Cole was cool and non controlling type, a unique combination for a leading man vampire! A good one, most definitely. No one likes a possessive control freak when it comes to romance. He lets Morgan choose, although he is persistent.

No Rest for the Wicca is a good book and anyone who loves urban fantasy, you might want to give this one a try as well. The cover might be a put off but I assure you the story isn’t.

I give thiiiis
