Discussion chapter 1-5
Discussion chapter 6-10
In Chapter 6, Atticus goes hunting with Oberon and Flidais. What was supposed to be a fun hunting trip turned rather disastrous. Were you expecting something like this to happen or did it catch you by surprise? Have you ever had something that should have been fun turn disastrous or nearly disastrous?
I didn't like Flidais from the beginning, so it wasn't a surprise when everything went haywire.

Too many things went disastrous. Every time there is a family outing the car will ALWAYS break down in the middle of the road. At least now we can get the car fixed, hubs has some car knowledge after all ;)
We are only briefly introduced to the witches (or, a witch) in chapter 7. What are your first impressions? How much would you trust the witches? Why?
The witch sounds okay, with a college student appearance. But as Atticus suspects you can never tell from the appearance how old or evil or good she might be, I am not ready to trust her just yet.

There only few witches I will trust. One, Minerva McGonagall and second Hermione Granger. Yeah I am sort of a Harry Potter geek :D

Oberon says, “With dogs you just go up and smell their asses and you know where you stand. It’s so much easier. Why can’t humans do that?” Do you ever wish there was an easier way to find out where you stand with someone (besides Oberon’s suggestion, of course)? In what cases would it be easier or better to hide your true feelings?
I think we all face theses sort of situation in our life, there is always someone that makes things difficult. But I wish there was some way to find out where you stand with the person without being too obvious about it. I am pretty shy person, so I just pretty much avoid 0~0
Chapter 9 makes Atticus’ life much more difficult: the witches are in some way working with Aeghus Og, Bres comes after Atticus, and more trouble appears at the end of the chapter. Have you made sense of what has happened thus far? Any predictions for what might happen?
Everyone seem to be after Atticus, so at this point it's better not to trust anyone, that's the only thing I am getting out of this.

My prediction? *scratches head* I am BAD at predicting stuff. When I do sometimes they fit but most of the time just blah. I say Atticus ends up battling with Aeghus with the sword. I'm just sayin.
Atticus has had plenty of time to cultivate attitudes and ethics that would allow him to live a very long time. What do you think it is about Atticus that has allowed him to live for as long as he has?
With all these binding he has around him, it's pretty hard to get to him. He moves around allot, not spending too much time in one place. Have Oberon, also I want to add Morrigan but I am not sure yet where she stands with Atticus. But at the end, Atticus is pretty smart he has been avoiding Aeghus for centuries, thinks with his head when faced with a Goddess. But dude if you keep that up Aeghus will have your head, so sometimes it's better to think with the actual head... why does it still sound wrong in my head?

End of discussion 6-10

Can someone please tell me if there is real romantic interest for Atticus with anyone?

  3. McGonagal is a total badass! She's my favorite Prof and I LOVED seeing her kick some ass in the 7th books! Anywhoo...

I totally agree with #5...he's done a fab job keeping away from a crazed god for centuries...that's a lot of time to learn and grow...I <3 dear Atty :)

  4. Yay McGonagall and Hermione!!!! I would absolutely trust those two ladies as well. I think Hermione and I would get along famously, except she's probably a bit smarter. Which is why I'd keep her around:) Hope you have a fabulous weekend Prangon!

  5. Ya, I don't like Flidais either! She's kinda a bitch. Just saying.

I love McGonagall and Hermoine. Seriously, I'd totally trust them. The blond witch, not so much. She seems sketchy. I can totally tell she's hiding something.

Okay as for romantic interest, not I can't remember when she comes in, but I think she does next book. She is absolutely lovely. You're going to love her. But, just a warning, the lovey part doesn't come in to play until a later book. You'll get to meet her and she becomes important to the story, but you also find out a ton about Atticus and why he hasn't found a female to be with him for awhile.

    1. Oh and the only reason I know about the lovey part is because I went to a Kevin Hearne book signing and asked him. He's freaking awesome!

    2. I hate that part. Slow down romance and mushy stuff that I gotta wait for two more books. creys. I love the slow built up romance but but but ... we don't even get to meet the girl in this book.

You are so lucky bb! I leave in the opposite side of the world, never get to meet all these awesome authors :(

  6. I'm with you on the witches--McGonagall and Mrs. Weasley FTW! (Love when Ron's Mom kicks ASS!)

Jen's right. There's a little hit of something-something coming up for Atticus but it's really not even like most urban fantasy romances. It's more like the early Harry Dresden-type romances (if you've read those).

  7. Ahh it is okay that you are a Potter geek, I mean Hermione and Mcgonagall are kick butt. Your car breaks down in the middle of the road well that sucks super lame. Better hope it isn't an oil leak. Yeah an epic sword battle that is surely in the cards. Happy weekend to by my bud!

  8. The real romantic love interest seems to be lacking in this book. As often happens in UF, though, I think.

  9. i don't know what I would do if my car broke down in the middle of the road. Probably cry. lol. I used to drive a car that broke down all the time but never in the middle of the road. One time the window fell down and it was raining and by the time I got home I was soaking wet..... lol.

  10. BB!! You're married? How did I not know this? I thought you were a single girl like me. LOL

And yeah, it does seem pretty obvious that Atticus is going to end up fighting Aeghus with the sword, huh. I caught on to that too, which is weird because I'm terrible at predicting stuff. :)

  11. Aw, but I like psychopath Flidais. lol. I get a kick out out super bitch characters.

I was wondering about the romance thing too. But I'm cool with the way Mary says it is. I just want to see what kind of chick can get Atticus for more than a romp in the sheets.

  12. Very lucky having a hubby who knows mechanics - a keeper for sure.

I'm coming to the conclusion that my opinion of witches depends on what book you're reading. I love the witches in Harry Potter (and btw am totally geeky about the books and the films), but I didn't like the witches in this so far. Then you have the Sookie Stackhouse books where some of the witches are good but others not so! It's a bit of a mixed bag with witches.

  13. Good prediction, can't believe I didn't think of that! Love your comments on Atticus using his head, made me smile.

  14. Minerva McGonagall!! I love her!! She is one of my favorite witches!!

Perfect prediction. I didn't predict because I feel like you, I'm usually wrong when I do that. LOL
