Synopsis from goodreads
Vampires in Chicago! You'd think headlines like that would have provoked the fine citizens of the Windy City to take up arms against us bloodsucking fiends. Instead, ten months later, we're enjoying a celebrity status reserved for the Hollywood elite-fending off paparazzi only slightly less dangerous than cross- and stake-wielding slayers. Don't get me wrong. Joe Public isn't exactly thrilled to be living side-by-side with the undead, but at least they haven't stormed the castle...yet.All that will change once they learn about the Raves-mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle and drink themselves silly. Most civilized vampires frown on this behavior-but that doesn't make good copy for a first-time reporter looking to impress his high-society family. So now my "master"-the centuries-old yet gorgeously well-preserved Ethan Sullivan-wants me to reconnect with my own upper-class family and act as liaison between humans and vampires...and keep the more unsavory aspects of our existence out of the media. But someone doesn't want people and vamps to play nicey-nice-someone with an ancient grudge.
My Thoughts

Okie I am a bit late in posting reviews these days, but here we go. After the month long Some Girls Bite read-along back in January I was pretty much in love with all the characters. I am still intrigued by them and definitely want to know if they will ever get their head out of their asses.

Merit, still has issues so does Ethan ... actually there is not a single character without some major WTF moments. I had random moments of 'stop it you..'. I can still relate to Merit's situation. Ethan still in denial about his feelings and I do believe he is the biggest jerk there is. I am serious Ethan, own up to your feelings dude! Sigh. But still I love the slow build up even though the sexual frustration between them is palpable.

Cather and Mallory, a little less lust-at-first-sight in this book but lust nonetheless. And I repeat, they are great character individually, I just don't feel the love.

I am still getting into the audiobook thing, I like reading my book rather than listening to it.

So at the end I must say I am going to see through this series even though Merit thinks what she does is right, Ethan finds making out is effective rather than taking her out on a date, Cather and Mallory needs to find something other than bareback in the kitchen, not enough JEFF. Cause lets face it, I'm too involve with the story to give up even though it frustrate me to no end.

I give this
About the author

Chloe Neill is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Chicagoland Vampires and Dark Elite series.
She was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest–just close enough to Cadogan House and St. Sophia’s to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit’s and Lily’s adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys–her favorite landscape photographer/husband and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.)

  1. This does not bode well for me then----I barely made it through book 1 passably liking it. I loved Jeff and the side characters. I keep putting off book 2 ---I might a little longer :)

  2. I still haven't even posted my review of the 1st book from the read-a-long! lol. I have the 2nd book, but who knows when I'll get to it. I just finished Hexed by Kevin Hearne on audiobook, and it was SO good.. I'm usually not an audiobook person, but that one was great.

  3. Hey turtle bud! I still haven't progressed in this series I really want to but haven't found the time. I am disappointed there isn't more Jeff. You know he is totally mine. One of these days I will get back to this series. I agree I have a bit of a hard time with audiobooks because sometimes my mind wanders.

  4. Yeah, I stopped reading after book three. Ethan and Merit were annoying the heck out of me.
